Thought it was time I updated ...
25 Oct (this Sunday) I have a choice ... either Tinariwen at Koko or Rodrigo Braga's album launch at the Jazz Cafe. I may have a difficult decision to make.
30 Oct: Tape The Radio, Hammersmith Studios
3 Nov: Clutch at Koko
5 Nov: Candle Thieves, 93 Feet East
12 Nov: Muse, the 02
19 Nov: Richard Hawley, Union Chapel
30 Nov: The Mismatch, The Fly
12 Dec: Tom Hingley and Chasing Envy, The Barfly
14 Dec (look away Martin) Lily Allen, Brixton Academy (I don't care! I really like her songs!)
19 Dec Delays, The Brook, Southampton

Next year I am planning a complete cycle of Sibelius's symphonies at the Festival Hall in Jan/Feb, plus Editors at Brixton Academy in March. So far.

That's an impressive list, Fliss. :) How great it must be to live in, or near, London. :)

My Goodness, Martin! Are you really going to see all of those.! Your feet won't touch the ground! I don't think I've ever known such a fan. You'll soon have to be like the MP's and have a "second home" in London. Just don't claim it on your expenses!

Thankfully I've been able to rest my legs at a few of the gigs - always nice to have a few seats around at my age!

It is all a bit hectic, but how can one resist bands/artists of such calibre?

I've discovered a new band to be a fan of this week. Race Horses (from South Wales).

http://www.myspace.com/racehorsesmusic

Amazingly varied set (bit noisy in some places but by no means all) and their singer has a fine voice with a good range. I bought their album at Tuesday's gig and it's well worth the money. They're a young band, but they're quite heavily influenced by another Welsh band I used to enjoy (although I never saw them live) - Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. They're all really friendly lads too (and probably quite amused that they have accidentally picked up a 'mature' fan in the course of supporting Fanfarlo!)

Gosh! What a schedule ! make sure you have a few bottles of Metatone (tonic) on hand, and don't come out of the Forum and cause havoc like they do on their "School Nights". I'm sure you know Kentish Town, but The Assembly Rooms is a good pub, and there's the Bull & Gate very close. However, maybe neither of them sell your kind of beer. :)

My list so far is much more modest.

Feb. 26th. Malc Evans & Nathan Bennett - Birmingham (Pub)
March 18th. Katherine Jenkins - Liverpool Arena
April 2nd. Candle Thieves - Doncaster
April 22nd. Rufus Wainwright - Appolllo, Manchester

Just to say, looks like "Jonsi" is very popular. Just read in the Sunday Tel. Culture Section that another date has been added for the 27th, "due to demand" :)

For anyone who's not aware, Jonsi is the singer with the amazing Icelandic band Sigur Ros. He's got a solo album coming out on 5th April, and is playing a few gigs to support this.

At least two members of this forum will be at the 26th May gig!
